designaustria invites 20 designers between the ages of 20 and 29 to submit works that understand design as a tool – to ask questions, take a stance, and actively help shape social development. During Vienna Design Week, the show at designforum Wien presents 20 contemporary positions from product and industrial design, graphic design and illustration, and social design. For these anniversaries, we don’t want to invite reflection on the past, but rather ask: What can design achieve for our future?
Who
Designers between 20 and 29 years of age with a connection to Austria (through education, residence, or active practice), from all disciplines – from graphic design and illustration to product and industrial design to social design. Both completed and ongoing projects can be submitted.
What
- 2–5 images of the project (max. 1MB per image, web resolution)
- Short text about the project (approx. 2,000 characters)
- Name, age, discipline, contact details

When
Submission deadline: July 30, 2026
Early August: review by a jury from design education, practice, VDW, and designaustria
Notification: August 14, 2026, including briefing and appointments
Opening: TBD(September 2026)
