After Milan and Barcelona, the open learning and experience zone dedicated to circular economy and polymer recycling is coming to Vienna for three days. Featuring a mobile recycling unit, a diverse educational programme, workshops, and hands-on stations, the three-day YouRban Festival is free and open to the public.
YouRban is part of the New European Bauhaus initiative and a contribution by designaustria to the Climate Biennial 2026.
In workshops and guided tours, industrial plastic is explored not as waste, but as a material for transformation. Through practical examples, participants discover how glass fibre–reinforced plastics can be turned into functional objects for urban spaces. Technical knowledge meets creative reflection, revealing the hidden potential of materials often considered useless. The sessions invite exchange and question how design can respond to ecological and social challenges.
