DIA Award 2021
Based at the China Academy of Art in Hangzhou, Design Intelligence Award DIA is China’s first International Award programme in Industrial Design. While well known and regarded in the industry, the DIA is still almost unknown outside China. European design organizations have therefore agreed to actively promote the prestigious DIA to a broader audience.
The German speaking European countries are still an important global hub for design and innovation. As its international strategy, designaustria seeks to act as a bridge between European and Chinese designers and design companies. designaustria has been involved with DIA over the previous years, having sent judges in the First Stage Evaluation Sessionat and the Final Evaluation Session. Now, the goal is to improve both the quality and quantity of the entries coming from Europe, especially entries from the D-A-CH area. designaustria likes to attract and appeal to the really innovative products and ideas that are out there so that, in future years, people see the DI Award winners as real innovators on a global scale.

Why they are in place?
DIA returns to the origin of design with human intelligence, advocates that design is “Intelligence of Humanity, Wisdom of Life, Fusion of Tech & Art, Brain of Industry”, and plays the role of bringing world-wide creativity to an intelligent future.
What are the timescales?
Entry Collection Period Up to June 25th 2021.
Preliminary Evaluation July 6th to July 16th – with results being announced on July 27th.
Shortlisted Entry Delivery August 18th to September 8th.
Final Evaluation September 10th to September 17th
Award Ceremony and Series of Activities October 12
Costs?
No Application fee will be charged, however it is asked that any logistical, insurance or customs clearance expenses (when prototypes are sent) incurred by Applicants be borne by them. Entry code: R392-1793884
Bonus?
The total bonus is 5000,000RMB($765,000 or €645,000), which will be distributed to 30 out-standing works in September.
DIA sets two groups of Product Group and Concept Group. Product Group sets Gold Award (2 Prizes, 1,000,000RMB/Prize), Silver Award (8 Prizes, 200,000RMB/Prize), Bronze Award (10 Prizes, 100,000RMB/Prize). Concept Group sets Future Talents Award (2 Prizes, 80,000RMB/Prize) and Young Talents Award(8 Prizes, 30,000RMB/Prize). Meanwhile, Honorable Mention (around 300 prizes) will be selected from both Product Group and Concept Group (the actual quantity shall be subject to the evaluation results).
